The series production started slowly in April 1989

Sales began at BMW dealerships on 29th May 1989

Production milestones:

Total of 6921 k1  have been produced between 1988 and 1993

1988:        12     =    0,17% - not sold
1989:    3700     = 53,46%
1990:    2032     = 29,36%
1991:      745     = 10,76%

1992:      296     =   4,48%

1993:      107     =   2,05%
